Comparison:
Water delivery services have some very obvious environmental downsides, and now some health issues too. The production and delivery/pick up of the plastic bottles causes excess and unnecessary amounts of gas pollution. Industry and transportation contribute to 59% of the greenhouse gas emissions. You also worry about how ‘fresh’ the water is, and how long it has been sitting on the truck in it’s plastic bottle exposed to the hot sun before being delivered. With the recent ‘plastic’ NBC news report shedding light on some issues we can now add that the plastic bottles the delivery companies use are typically numbered 7 and these have been reported to contain a chemical known as Bisphenol A which is causing a number of health problems with all ages.
Our Water dispenser:
Conservation of energy is one of the most important features of our water coolers. Up front, a water cooler costs a certain amount. But if the energy conservation capability is poor, the water dispenser can end up costing you a lot more in the long run.
Energy Star rated.
Hot water self-cleaning of the entire cooler interior programmed to run automatically.
Chills an amazing 2.64 gallons (10 liters) of icy water to below 50f every hour.
Every hour heats 2.11 gallons (8 liters) of steaming hot water for teas and coffee.
Life expectancy of 10 years plus (relevant for purchase option)
Comparison:
Most coolers are not Energy Star rated which means its using unnecessary amounts of energy. The majority of manufacturers state you must clean your cooler using a sanitizing solution, sodium hypochlorite (a type of bleach) which will eventually end up leaching into the earth and adding to the intoxication. Typically there will be residual solution left in the cooler, which could be passed onto the consumer. Ours automatically uses a simple hot water technique with better bacteria killing results.
The Eco benefits I Love My H2O brings:
We recycle 25% of our products used cartridges and hope to recycle all cartridges by 2009.
The filter lasts an amazing 1000 gallons so has to be changed less frequently than most.

No plastic bottles used.
Our water dispenser turns on every 14.5 hours in standby mode. We use a combination of a
well-developed ice ring, superior insulation of the cold tank and tubing to keep its temperature.
The energy use is a low 0.11 kHz, which is 31.25% lower than required by Energy Star requirements.
Typically saving you $50 per year on your electricity bill.
Ability to offset your carbon footprint.
The Eco Facts:
To distribute the water that’s hauled to and fro within the U.S. every week requires the equivalent of

Making bottles to meet America’s demand for bottled water requires more than 1.5 million barrels of
oil annually. That's enough to fuel some 100,000 U.S. cars for a year. Earth Policy Institute 2006
Worldwide, 2.7 million tons of plastic are used to bottle water each year. The amount of crude oil going
into plastic water bottles in the US each year may now exceed 10 million barrels. Earth Policy 2006
In contrast to tap water, which is distributed through an energy-efficient infrastructure, transporting
bottled water long distances involves burning massive quantities of fossil fuels. Earth Policy 2006
Studies show consistently that tap water is purer than many bottled waters—not including those that
contain only tap water, which by some estimates is 40% of the total by volume. Economist.com July 31, 2007
Delivery water companies are moving in with monster 15 liter (3.9 Gallon) non-re-useable PET jugs.
The bottles are recyclable but they are too big. "Our mechanical sorting equipment cant handle it so
they have to be manually picked up," he said. So "They end up in the garbage."! Science & Technology
86% of plastic water bottles used in the United States become garbage or litter, only 14% are
actually recycled! Container Recycling Institute 2007
