Emcotech ™ (Athena and Delphi) and
Life ™ (7000 and 7500) Premium ionizers compared.
Company backgrounds
Korean-based Emcotech ™ has been manufacturing ionizers for over 25 years. They are involved in the whole process, from the creation of the parts to the assembly of the machine. They have two large, distributor-run facilities in the USA where repair/warranty issues are handled. I Love My H20 have tried and tested this service and it is excellent. They offer fully supported, five-year warranties on their Delphi and Athena product. In our opinion, they are the ionizer distributor with the most integrity, professionalism and longevity.
Life ™ Ionizers are an American water filtration company approximately 20 years old. Seeing how popular alkaline ionizer machines were becoming, they began designing and building their own about 10 years ago, using parts primarily imported from Japan. They also offer five-year warranties on their premium 7000 & 7500 models.
Ionization power – mesh plates
The effectiveness of an ionizer is totally dependent on the type of electrode plates. Platinum-coated titanium plates are the most superior and you ideally want “mesh-plated” as this increases surface area, which means more powerful electrolysis.
Emcotech ™ Delphi & Athena deliver 5 platinum-coated titanium mesh plate technology.
Competition in size and number of plates takes us into the realm of excessive alkalinity and reduced hydrogen (H-) delivery - at the expense of your pocket but over and above your body’s requirements. Only the Life ™ 750 model delivers platinum-coated titanium mesh plate technology. They offer 7 plates and levels of alkalinity you would never realistically use.
Filtration technology – contaminant removal
Both Emcotech ™ and Life ™ premium models offer dual filtration (sediment pre-filter and silver-activated, multi-stage carbon filters)
Only Emcotech ™ models offer filtration to 0.01 micron (as fine as kidney dialysis machine). Life ™ premium models offer 0.1 micron.
Emcotech ™ offers patented Biostone filter technology, incorporating tourmaline stone with its natural, magnetic energy and proven health benefits. Life ™ filters do not contain tourmaline.
Electrode cleaning technology.
Emcotech incorporates patented DARC cleaning technology that cleans electrodes after every use, guarding against mineral deposit build-up and prolonging life of electrodes.
We regret we do not have any details regarding Life ionizer cleaning technology. On their website they state they have “automatic and manual” cleaning.
Electrical power source – SMPS or not?
Emcotech inform us “ We don't have an SMPS transformer. It is lighter and can be used in multiple voltage situations but this kind of transformer is not as robust as the kind we use, which is a regular block transformer’
Life ™ uses “constant power” SMPS technology. SMPS is very efficient because it does not utilize the "lossy" series regulator found in the linear power supply. Current is consumed from the circuit only when the charge state of the capacitor reservoir requires it. SMPS technology is relatively immune to voltage regulation issues. However, the technology does not employ a stepdown transformer on the front end, which means that it may not satisfactorily isolate the electronic system from the electrical supply. |
